Gretchen Hood
Gretchen HoodParish Administrator
Our Parish Administrator is often the first person with whom you will speak if you are trying to catch up with one of the staff, or if you want to get something done. She leads the administrative team at Old Donation, is the primary person for communications, and generally keeps us all on the same page.

Gretchen has lived all over the world, moving with her husband, Jeff, a career officer in the Air Force, and their two sons, Blair and Peter. They most recently lived in Israel and Rome, two very interesting places for folks associated with Christianity. Gretchen’s family includes an Episcopal priest and she has been very active in church life, including jumping in with both feet since arriving at Old Donation. We are thankful to have her on our team.

 Louise Barbarisi
Louise Barbarisi Parish Secretary
Louise is a Norfolk native who recently returned to the area after living in North Carolina. A mother of four grown children, Louise is an avid quilter who loves spending time with her grandson and being back home. Louise works in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. Please add your voice in welcoming Louise and thanking the Holy Spirit for bringing her to us.
Pam Campbell
Pam CampbellOffice Assistant
Pam has been an integral part of Old Donation Church for more than 40 years and is responsible for various administrative tasks. More than anyone in the office, Pam knows the people and history of Old donation, and having experienced our parish as a child, teen, adult, and parent, Pam is able to share a valuable perspective. She is a middle generation, and like many others in the parish, both her mother and daughter are members. In addition to being a part-time staff person, Pam is active in many ministries, especially with Christian Formation events such as crafts, adult formation, and Vacation Bible School. Her smile and positive approach is part of the ODEC temperament.
AJ Lambert
AJ LambertYouth Minister
As a newer member here at Old Donation, I am excited to serve in an environment where I can see God actively working in the lives of not only the individual members, but also in the community as a whole. My wife, Elizabeth, and I have been actively involved in youth ministry for the past several years and are very excited for the opportunity to minister to the youth here at Old Donation. We were born and raised in San Diego but moved here to attend Graduate School. Elizabeth is currently pursuing her M.F.A. in Acting at Regent University, and I am also attending Regent to pursue my M.T.S. with an emphasis in biblical languages. We both love the friendly and welcoming community at Old Donation and look forward to our time here. ajlambert@olddonation.org
Diane Miller
Diane MillerParish Accountant
Diane Miller is our Parish Accountant, a position she has held since 1999. She handles the day to day finances for the church, and oversees the accounting for the Day School. Her position allows for close work with Lynda Erickson, Pledge Recorder, and Ned Kuhns, Treasurer, as well as the rest of the staff and parishioners. Diane brings an extensive career in accounting to her ministry as parish accountant at Old Donation Church, as well as a love for all of the many facets of God’s work in us and our work with God at Old Donation. She has been very active in our parish’s health and prayer ministries, particularly with Stephen Ministry. Diane, husband Brian, and son Dillon moved to Virginia Beach from Fort Worth, Texas.
Paul Hudgins
Paul HudginsOrganist and Choirmaster
Paul Hudgins has been Organist/Choirmaster for Old Donation since September 1999. A native of Mathews, Virginia, Paul served his home parish of Christ Episcopal Church (Kingston Parish) from 1973 – 1975 before attending James Madison University. Music ministry is a second career for Paul, where he has been employed for 24 years with Sentara Healthcare and is Director of Patient Financial Services. Paul’s passion at Old Donation is liturgy planning and he recognizes himself as a traditionalist and Anglo-Catholic at heart, with a slight “curve” in the direction of some (quote, some) contemporary music. Paul previously contemplated life in a monastic religious order and attended multiple retreats at both St. Anselm’s Benedictine Abbey near Washington DC, and Holy Cross Trappist Monastery in Berryville, VA (Cistercian order of the Strict Observance).

Leslie FenterGathering Band Director
Leslie graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. She is both The Gathering Band Leader/keyboard player, and since 1997, the music teacher for our Day School. Recently, she became the chorus director for Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School. As a volunteer she leads the Children’s Choir and the music for Vacation Bible School, shucks raw oysters on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and occasionally sings for our 8am service and at Harbor Park. Confirmed at Old Donation in 1989, she is mother to sons, Jake and Ted, and wife to John.
Bruce Woodhouse
Bruce WoodhouseSexton
Bruce is the smiling face behind the heavy lifting, endless cleaning and challenging maintenance around Old Donation Church. Day School kids revere him, squirrels fear him, and everyone thanks him for our well-kept facilities. Next time you find the soap and hand towels stocked, think of Bruce and say a word of thanks.
Matthew Improta
Matthew ImprotaWeekend Sexton
Matt grew up as a member of the parish and has become a faithful, valuable part of the staff. He is an Eagle Scout. He works, is enrolled in college and participates actively in Scouting. Matthew is also an excellent cook, continuing in his Italian family tradition. Matt works Saturdays and Sundays to be sure we are properly cleaned and set-up for our busy schedules.
Janet Brown
Janet BrownDirector of Old Donation Episcopal Day School
Janet has been part of our Day School for over 24 years, teaching for 10 years, and then serving as Director. She actually began her relationship even before that, since she grew up in this area and she and her husband, Chuck, were married at Old Donation in 1982! Janet has a B.S. in early childhood education from Old Dominion University and loves our 110+ children and families like they are her own. Of course, being a Virginia Beach native, she loves the beaches and sea shells, and being a teacher, she loves coffee and chocolate.
